Hey, I’m Omari

Before the Days of Design

Before I became a UX Designer I was already priming myself for the necessary foundations to become one. Before graduating university I gained a lot of experience in customer service, exposing me to the very real and instant user feedback of the available products and experiences at the ground level.

Post graduation I transitioned into sales where I got used to fast paced environments, agile style working and developed a different relationship with both the user and the product. In sales I had the responsibility of finding areas of common ground between the product and users to create sale opportunities.

As much as I enjoyed this I yearned for something more creative and managed to pivot to the world of marketing where I oversaw campaigns at a start-up company. My time here allowed me to see how impactful the positioning of a product can be when it’s aligned with the expected vales & optics of their target market. Here I began to familiarise myself the Adobe Creative Suite which further helped make this feel more creative.

the Days of Design

Design came to me almost serendipitously. After completing an Audio Engineering & Music Production course in Amsterdam though the Abbey Road Institution I decided to move back to London. During the first lockdown I searched for skills that would be helpful in more creative spaces and eventually stumbled on a UX Design. The importance of empathy, partnered with the need for research and the opportunity to design made space for both the creative and analytical parts of myself in ways I didn’t know could exist.

Soon I completed a course in UX Design curated by Google. Through word of mouth, speaking about my new passion in design I landed a few freelance opportunities that soon led to a full time role where I was head hunted by my current employer ISB Global LTD. Through ISB Global I’ve been given the opportunity to manage the end-to-end deliveries and to design complex Saas platforms for b2b experiences in the world of sustainability.

CORE values

💎 Accessibility:
The best designs out there are those created with everyone in mind. As designer I make sure to align my ideas with WCAG guidelines and try my best to produce products and services with built-in features to help all users from different backgrounds. "Focus on the user and all else will follow,”

💎 Sustainability:
Working at ISB Global LTD a company specialising in waste & recycling, I’ve been lucky enough to design product with the environment in mind, committing to net-zero as a company and as individuals.

💎 Transparency:
Working in fast faced environments with agile methodologies I’ve learned to communicate what I need from range of stakeholders. In the fashion of a true leader, my manger Rohit Kaushik showed me how to communicate my needs respectfully & effectively as well making collaborators feel comfortable expressing their feedback.

💎 Diversity:
Working with agile methodologies I’ve had the privilege of working alongside different departments. Prior to UX Design Ive had experience wearing other hats under different titles. Life gave the gift of living & working alongside a myriad of people from different backgrounds. All of this taught me the strength of diversity. While sharing the same North Star diversity allows for a body to see things from an array of angles that heightens problem solving and unlocks new solutions.
